The why

For many young students, thinking about life after school feels overwhelming. After years in a structured environment, they suddenly face countless questions about their future path.

‘Mein Mutiger Weg’ is there to support them, by offering in-person workshops in schools. I joined the team to co-create a new digital platform to extend their impact and guide students through their transition with confidence.

7 out of 10 young people in Germany feel left alone when it comes to early career choices.

What the Traumjob Campus offers

13 modules

The platform provides 13 self-paced learning modules. Each module consists of a series of video-based learning, interactive worksheets and materials, and live coaching. Students explore personal interests, learn to set goals, and gain insight into real-world career paths.

Research

What does a digital learning platform need to offer to support students aged 16–19 in navigating career choices?

Methods

  • 15 interviews with secondary school students
  • Desk research on existing educational tools
  • 7 stakeholder interviews with teachers and coaches

The time after school is a great uncertainty that everyone of us tries to suppress.

— Philomena, student of 12th grade (2020)

Interviews

Interviews with secondary school students about their future planning and wishes, their ideas for more valuable future guidance integrated into school education, their usage of digital learning tools, and their current learning success in digital environments.

Insights

Students’ needs in career guidance:

  • Earlier and more practical experience, for example internships
  • More peer exchange and real-world input from professionals
  • Better integration of guidance into everyday school systems, like Moodle

Defining success criteria

I translated all research findings into a design checklist which shaped the direction of product development.

Impact

  • 450 students were actively using the Traumjob Campus within the first year after launch (2021).
  • 4,000+ students in Germany use it today (January 2025).

Funding gained at the ‘Future of Education’ Hackathon 2021

  • I facilitated a remote design sprint with the product team and external participants
  • We developed gamification concepts and new user flows
  • Secured second place and gained funding for future development from Amazon, AWS and Stifterverband
